Rancho La Merced Wildlife Refuge is located on the Pacific coast near Punta Uvita and the Marino Ballena National Park. The reserve has about 500 ha comprising a primary and secondary rain forest reserve, as well as open areas of pasture, mangrove estuary and facing the Morete River and the beach.
